It has been almost 1,5 year that we received an email from a very special contact living all the way in Australia. Her name is Sharney Cord and she saw our posting regarding the research on http://www.rootsweb.com.
Sharney is one of the contributors of the book " Cul de Sac People" by Mathias Voges and has also been doing genealogy research for a few years now.
Her family comes from St Maarten N.A., and from what she has learned so far is that Judith R.T. van Romondt (wife of Johannes Willem van Romondt)owner of the plantation named Golden Rocks Retreat had owned my family.
Her 5th great grandmother Susannah Heward was the first of many generations to have resided at the Golden Rocks Retreat. Susanna Heward had a daughter, Sharney's 4th great grandmother Quasheba who was born there in 1793.
Sharney is in search of any information on the plantation records for more information. The research also is trying to locate the records and hope to receive them very soon.
The research has also received some documents from Sharney regarding van Romondt of the West Indian Branch who traveled to Australia. Now we have to make the connection and start researching these branches.
