Some families played an important role in our family history such as the Hassell, the Gumbs(es), Kruythoff, von Bretton, du Cloux and many others.

Geneological research is something great to do and is a place where many researchers connect to share and help each other on their project.

In the month of April 2007 the research received an email from Ingrid Gumbs ( our GUMBS goeroe) sending us the family tree of the Kruythoff family and asking us to contact mr. Pieter Pel in the Netherlands for additional information on this family. Soon after contacting mr. Pieter Pel informed us on his huge project. As you may already know the Dutch Geneological Center has several publications and one of them is "Het Nederlands Patriciaat". This annual publication has many Dutch families listed. The van Romondt family with the three branches ( Enkhuizer, Utrechte en West Indische tak) is also listed and we have optained the copies of the publication.

Mr. Pieter Pel is busy gathering all information on the Kruythoff family for the publication of this family in "het Nederlandse Patriciaat" and especially information on the West Indian Branch and therefore asked us for any info that can be of great help to the project.
You may be wondering about the connection between the Kruythoff and the van Romondt family right now. Let us explain!

Judith Rink Tielenuis Krythoff was daughter of Adolf Tielenuis Kruythoff ( General controller of the Dutch West Indian properties) and Sarah Gumbes/Gumbs ( connected to the Gumbs of Anguilla). Judith married Johannes Willem van Romondt the 1st son of Diederick Johannes van Romondt and Ann Hassell. Judith and Johannes had 11 children.

Former Governor Willem Hendrik Rink deeded plantation "the Retreat" in 1842 to Judith and she was the owner of plantation.

In June 2006 the research received an amazing email from a wonderful lady in Australia Sharney Cord who is a living descendant of one of the slavefamilies who lived on the Plantation The Retreat. In the publication of Mathias Voges, Cul de Sac People you can read more on this plantation and the families. ( Thanks Mathias for this special publication).

Living descendants we found while doing this research of the branch Judith & Johannes are:
Family Robert Diederik van Romondt (The Netherlands)
Family Alvan Bruno Richardson ( Aruba,The Netherlands, Curacao N.A., U.S.A. and Colombia)
Famly Calvin Allorick Richardson ( Aruba and The Netherlands)

We hope to find more descendants while doing this research.
