Where did our spirit of entrepreneurship come from?

Dear all,

As you may already know the van Romondts were MINT MASTERS in Holland in the early days. According to several resources some of the van Romondts including Jan van Romondt were very active in the development of the Dutch coins (gulden) during that period in the city of Utrecht, Holland. Jan was mint master of Utrecht, Holland (1679-1709) (Dutch: een muntmeester, Frans: directeur de l`hôtel de la monnaie, Duits: Münzmeister. A mint master is the highest boss/director of a coinhouse and is responsible for the fullfillment of the policies.

Jan van Romond was son of Diederik van Romond (muntmeester) en Pietertje Petersdr Schuurmans. Johan van Romond comes from a big mint master family and is the 1st out of three generations who served as a mint master. After his death his wife and son continued. Between 2 centuries in the complete Republic several members of the van Romond family occupied ( 20 times) the function of MINT MASTER in different states in the Netherlands.
