The Jill Beams Collection!

We are happy to inform you that Mrs. Jill Beams, sister of Mrs Jane Heavener-Hicks recently send us pictures of her collection. We are very thankful to receive this and welcome the "The Jill Beams Collection" to the VR-Research Project.

Jill Beams grandmother was Annie Wheat van Romondt who was daughter of Dr. Charles Dietrick van Romondt & Anna Wheat Morgan and has a portrait of her grandfather Charles Roelof van Romondt when he was the dean of languages at Rutgers College. http://www.rutgers.edu

Charles Roelof van Romondt was minister in New-Brunswick, New Jersey, U.S.A. for the Netherlands Antilles. Professor Charles van Romondt was the former head of te Foreign Language Deparment of Rudgers College. WASHINGTON AND LEE UNIVERSITY HONORARY DOCTORATES CONFERRED, BY DATE OF AWARD , Year Honoree (Degree), 1883:Charles R. Van Romondt (Doctor of Letters) (Source:http://registrar.wlu.edu/honors/hondegs.htm, http://www2.wlu.edu/) "Reverend Charles R. van Romondt served as Professor of Modern Languages and Literatures in Rutgers College from 1846-1859. He received the degree of Bachelor of Arts from Rutgers College in 1841, and the degree of Master of Arts from Rutgersin 1844 and from Washington and Lee University in 1863. He was a medical doctor in New Jersey.
