We recently received some wonderful documentations and one of them is from descendant Karin Mitschele who lives in the U.S.A. Her grandmother Margaret Budd (daughter of Annie Wheat-van Romondt) received a letter from mr. D.C. Van Romondt dated May 16, 1936. This letter is exactly 72 years old. In this letter D.C. van Romondt writes about the island of SXM, the population of about 5000 inhabitants, the government and the van Romondt families who were living in SXM in that period of time. D.C. van Romondt ends the letter by telling Margaret " Should you ever visit Sint Martin, I shall be glad to welcome you there" signed with his signature, D.C. van Romondt"
Karin on behalf of the VR-research we thank you for providing us with information for your collection in the research.
At the same time we also got in touch with journalist Susan Campbell who lives in Canada. Susan Campbell wrote the article of D.C. van Romondt in the Sint Martin's' Nights Magazine. The tourist guide of the island of Sint Maarten.
