Introducing Eleanor O'Malley:
Hello and hugs to ALL VanRomondts! I'm Ellie O'Malley, formerly Eleanor Fitzgerald, daughter of Irene van Romondt, (oldest child of Diederik Johannes van Romondt and Marion Carter), and Daniel Fitzgerald.
I was born in 1936 on Long Island, (NY), and was raised there in Great Neck along with my half sister, Betty-Lou Dayton. I don't know whether to be grateful that I am 70 years old or to say, "Oh darn". The best part of my life is my hubby, Jim, a retired college professor.
I graduated from the State University in Potsdam, NY in 1958. The first person I met upon arrival was Carmen Illidge from the VR family. I really liked Carmen,(mutual). My degree was in music education, (violinist) and I taught music, (mainly choral) in AZ and NY, though I got an advanced degree in counseling and retired in '96 as a Licensed Professional Counselor.
Anyone for a VR chorus at the reunion? We could "rock!" Besides music interests include travel, the arts, writing, singing/directing choirs, scripture, ecumenical Bible study groups.
I like giving motivational speeches, especially proclaiming the love of God from scripture. My favorite saying is from Ephesians 1:3,4 that I quote here. Personalize verses by inserting your own name in the blanks, and then speaking them out loud over yourself. It will touch your heart!
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who has blessed___ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms in Christ, just as He chose___in Him before the foundation of the world, that ____should be holy and blameless before iIm, covered with His love.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if the VR reunion not only turned into a healing event, but also provided commitment to somehow "give back" blessings to people in the Caribbean or even Africa?
