Once of the contributors to this huge project is Mathias Voges. Mathias is a historical goeroe on the island of Sint Maarten. He has being doing research for decades on families on Sint Maarten. The van Romondt's is also one of them.
While talking to cousin Jackie Richardson in Sint Maarten a few years ago, Malaki contacted Mathias and explained him about the project. Mathias was very much interested and asked Malaki to write down her family line and he would go through his records in his genealogy database. The result was phenomenal. Mathias made a complete family genealogy for Malaki regarding her line to the van Romondts along with the copy of the marriage certificate of Johannes Willem van Romondt & Judith Rink Tielenius Ktuythoff.

After some correspondence in the past few years Mathias has contributed very much to the research and recently he send his complete database of the van Romondt family he has researched so far. This is fantastic says, Malaki and this documentation goes right into the Mathias Voges Collection.

About M.S. Voges - Acting Governor of St. Maarten
In the absence of the governor of the island territory, the acting governor takes over the daily duties of the governor.
Mathias Voges has served as the acting governor of St. Maarten since 1990.
Mathias Sinclair Voges was born in 1943 in Philipsburg, St. Martin, as the 9th child of Johannes Ricardo Voges and Theresa Winifred Lejuez. At an early age Voges left for Curacao.
After finalizing the teacher's training at the Peter Stuyvesant College in Curacao in 1965, he continued his studies at the Rijkskweekschool in Maastricht, Holland in 1966 and at the Lerarenopleiding in Aruba 1975.
In 1981 Voges returned to his native island, where he became the principal of the M.A.V.O. department of the Milton Peters College in Cul de Sac. After being the General Director of the M.P.C. for four years (1983 - 1987), Voges was appointed as superintendent of the Catholic schools in the Windward Islands, where he was very instrumental in establishing the first English Catholic primary and high school on the island.
He is the former president of the Board of Directors of the University of St. Martin and former president of the Antillean Youth Care Federation in the Windward Islands. He holds the post of secretary of the Emilio Wilson Cultural and Historical Foundation and is vice-president of the Foundation for Traffic Safety in the Windward Islands. After hurricane Luis in 1995, Voges became chairman of the Advisory Committee of the Dutch funding agency ‘Stichting Katholieke Noden' in the Windward Islands. He is also a member of the St. Maarten Monument Preservation Foundation.
Voges is the author of among others the following publications:
Geonant, a geography book for the secondary schools in the Netherlands Antilles (Co-author 1979)
St. Maarten/St. Martin, a photo book about St. Martin (1995)
Zusters Dominicanessen van Voorschoten 100 jaar op St. Maarten, a book about the work of the St. Dominican Sisters between 1890 and 1990 on St. Martin. (1990)
Since 1990, Mathias S. Voges is Acting Governor of the Island Territory of St. Maarten and will be celebrating 15 years of service to the people of St. Maarten in 2005.
For his many contributions towards the community of the Netherlands Antilles, Voges was awarded the title of Officer in the House of Orange Nassau by her majesty the Queen of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in 1993. He also received the medal, Pro Ecclesia Et Pontifice, from his Holiness Pope John the Second, for his many contributions towards Catholic education in 1996.

Mathias is a relative of mine. My grandfather was Thomas Alexander Voges.
