Our eldest descendant Douglas Sinclair Cannegieter passes away at the age of 99

Dear all,

Today we received the sad news that Douglas Sinclair Cannegieter passed away peacefully at 9.30 this morning 4 November 2007 in Philipsburg Sint Maarten N.A. Douglas is the eldest descendant alive of the van Romondt family of the West Indian Branch.

He was born on the 6 August 1908 son of Otto Lionel van Romondt and Sarah Cannegieter. He leaves behind his wife ligia Theresa Cannegieter-Alfaro and his children Azael, Ligia Rebecca, Eva Maria, Maryoria Alejandrina, Douglas Alberto and Omar Emilio. His grandchildren Jennifer Caroline, Natascha Alexandra, Alfredo Jose, Mariagabriela, Mercedes Beatrix, Enrique, Solange Carolina, Karina Coromoto and Douglas Alberto. His 2 great grandchildren Philippe and Amanda. Many family & relatives, nieces and nephews of his belated brothers living in Sint Maarten N.A., Aruba, Curacao and Holland:
Clarence Aubrey Cannegieter, Granville Cannegieter and Roger Cannegieter & families.

A special thanks goes out to his caretaker Suzanne, niece Blondell Cannegieter and his doctor Grace Spencer.

With the loss of Douglas we thoroughly lost a great father, grandfather, uncle, great uncle and friend. We wish the family all lot of strength during these days.

The funeral will take place in Sint Maarten N.A. and is still to be announced.

His children wrote the following message to their beloved father:

" Querido Papi: Te fuiste sin nuestra presencia, pero tu sabes que siempre has estado en nuestros corazones.Papi te queremos te admiramos porque fuiste un papa amoroso y comprensivo. Nosotros sabemos que estas mejor al lado del Senor, descansando de tantas dolencias y queremos darle las gracias de corazon a todas las personas que hicieron tu vida mejor, mil gracias, que Dios los Bendiga por su tiempo y carino para con nuestro padre. Papi siempre estas con
